Staff Hierarchy

This document describes the various staff positions on ChatLounge, and the associated responsibilities of each. Staff are not server specific (except for strictly server administration duties), and have access on any client server. Generally speaking, staff are opped in #help.

Founder

The Founder has full control of everything. In addition to the responsibilities below, the founder maintains services, drafts policy, considers possible server links, and considers possible candidates for promotion.

Responsibilities

  • Consider possible server links and candidates for promotion.
  • Maintain services.
  • Participate in the routing committee.
  • Assist with channel registration issues.
  • Potentially assist with channel moderation if services are unavailable.
  • Enforce the AUP, with warning, temporary disconnections (/kills), and if necessary, network bans (global k-lines).
  • Assist users with basic IRC commands and other simple inquiries.

Network Administrators

Network administrators are responsible for ensuring all servers remain connected. Every network administrator has shell access to every client server. A network administrator may have access to services. Network administrators have a stronger voice in proposing candidates for promotion. Every network administrator sponsors at least one server.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the routing committee.
  • Assist with channel registration issues.
  • Potentially assist with channel moderation if services are unavailable.
  • Enforce the AUP, with warning, temporary disconnections (/kills), and if necessary, network bans (global k-lines).
  • Assist users with basic IRC commands and other simple inquiries.

Server Administrators

Server administrators are responsible for their server(s), as well as have all the responsibilities of services operators. They may possibly propose candidates for promotion.

  • Assist with channel registration issues.
  • Potentially assist with channel moderation if services are unavailable.
  • Enforce the AUP, with warning, temporary disconnections (/kills), and if necessary, network bans (global k-lines).
  • Assist users with basic IRC commands and other simple inquiries.

Services Operators

In addition to the responsibilities of global operator, services operators have the ability to handle channel registration issues, and are capable of assisting with channel moderation in the event services are not available.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with channel registration issues.
  • Potentially assist with channel moderation if services are unavailable.
  • Enforce the AUP, with warning, temporary disconnections (/kills), and if necessary, network bans (global k-lines).
  • Assist users with basic IRC commands and other simple inquiries.

Operators

Also known as a global operator, these users are able to apply global k-lines to the network. They are otherwise like regular users with no special access to commands.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce the AUP, with warning, temporary disconnections (/kills), and if necessary, network bans (global k-lines).
  • Assist users with basic IRC commands and other simple inquiries.

Helpers

Helpers have no special powers, but are generally recognized as knowledgeable and helpful. They may be opped in the help channel #help.
